The draft Lake Cathie Coastline Management Study (2009) is currently on public exhibition until 7 October 2009.
The study, prepared by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council and the Department of Environment and Climate Change identifies and assesses management options for how the coastline can be managed into the future.
Council’s Director of Development and Environmental Services, Matt Rogers said, “There is wide community interest in the study and we want to give the community opportunity to have their say".
A range of 13 management options have been identified by the draft Coastline Management Study, particularly for the area where residential properties front Illaroo Road at Lake Cathie. Some of those options include retreat, protection and adaptation scenarios along a stretch of coastline from the lake’s entrance to Middle Rock.
People making sumbissions and contributing to the discussion are encouraged to review the management options which are all summarised in the library documents and available on council's website www.pmhc.nsw.gov.au/lakecathie
